PC Analyst
- Tier 2
The IS/T department
has an opening for a self-motivated, energetic and results oriented
individual to assume the CONTRACT position of PC Analyst - Tier
2 at our Williams Lake location.
Position Summary:
The primary function of this position will be to provide exceptional
customer service and technical support to our desktop and laptop
technology users located across Canada. In addition, the successful
candidate will be responsible for various service improvement
initiatives and technology projects.
Major Responsibilities:
· Provide technical support and resolve technical issues
for internal and remote users
· Develop and document procedures to ensure efficient,
effective service to all users
· Recommend and lead implementation of cost effective
service enhancing technology solutions
· Cooperatively work with internal users to develop requirements
and prepare appropriate plans
· Record, track, and report on project and support initiatives
· Ensure continued compliance to Y2K & technology
standards, software licensing, asset tracking, procurement processes,
and invoice validation practices
· Develop and maintain procedural and technical documentation
QUALIFICATIONS:
· 5 years helpdesk and desktop support experience with
working knowledge of ticketing systems, help desk procedures,
performance measurements, including well developed customer service
skills
· Minimum 3 years hands-on technical support & implementation
experience with Windows 95/NT
· Minimum 4 years hands-on technical support & implementation
experience with proven expert level technical knowledge of Macintosh
hardware & operating systems
· Installation and support experience with MSOffice, Outlook,
Filemaker Pro, Quark, etc.
· Extensive configuration & support experience with
HP, Compaq, IBM, Toshiba, NEC, Macintosh desktops & laptops
& related equipment
· Must be able to work and make decisions independently,
possesses self-initiative, focus, with a results oriented positive
attitude
· Must have excellent organizational and verbal/written
communication skills
· Post secondary diploma/degree in computer science -
MCSE or equivalent an asset
May require occasional evening/weekend hours, ability to travel
between offices for backup/training

Senior Technical Support Analyst
The Technical Support Analyst job family includes all areas of
the technical support function. Areas of specialization within
systems programming include: mainframe systems and communications
software, test tools and performance and capacity planning. Must
be familiar with various application programming languages and
be knowledgeable of multiple platforms, and multiple network
protocols. Works under general supervision to assist in development,
design and implementation of technical support systems or to
complete specialty functions. May have project management responsibility
for small projects or task management responsibility on larger
projects. Must be able to interface with technical support systems
users to identify needs and assist in implementation. Participates
in staff development by reviewing plans, suggesting approaches
and general mentoring to ensure cross training and departmental
employee development.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Connectivity:
Performs communications projects and assists in the analysis
and evaluation of voice or data communications systems and communications
hardware. Evaluates performance of computer and network hardware
and software. Provides management with reports recommending ways
to improve the network from performance and cost perspectives.
Develops standards, guidelines and procedures for appropriate
use by operations and network support; works with other staff
on implementation of new programs, systems and communications
solutions. Must be familiar with VTAM.
Application Programming:
Designs and implements reporting systems used to support any
recommended change, including the development and continued monitoring
of a performance measuring system. Provides support of business
systems to maintain the availability and integrity of corporate
data during and outside of normal working hours.
Performs business systems development tasks, such as: works with
users to define systems needs, designs business systems to meet
user needs, translates logic diagrams into program statements;
installs and implements vendor packages, conducts research in
emerging technologies.
Maintains proficiency in programming languages, program development
and testing.
Systems Programming:
Involved with the design and development of the systems and network
infrastructure to support business applications; answering technical
questions pertaining to the operating and network systems.
Develops standards as they pertain to the operating and network
environment, user written macros and/or utilities; designs appropriate
documentation for use by all areas and ensures enforcement of
standards by monitoring the various
systems.
Assists in the training and orientation of other staff and/or
users. Provides consultation and assistance to systems technicians
and HI organizations in resolving technical systems problems.
Other:
Performs other projects or special assignments as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
University degree with major or minor in computer science or
equivalent experience required. Five years industry experience
in technical support and/or database support functions acquired
through a combination of technical support and applications development
activities. Must have a working knowledge of local
and wide area network topologies including tokenring and ethernet.
Working knowledge of SNA connectivity regarding IBM cluster controllers
and various gateways. Requires a thorough knowledge of operating
systems including Novell, DOS. MCSE or CNE designation required.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills are a must.

and Promotions Assistant
TITLE: Publicity
and Promotions Assistant, Motion Picture Distribution
RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Provide administrative support to the publicity and promotion
department
* Responsible for setting up promotional screenings in select
markets across Canada
* Keep accurate stock of publicity materials, and responsible
for the duplication of these materials.
* Oversee and co-ordinate national mail-outs to the media
* Liaison with U.S. studios to obtain publicity materials
* Gather and circulate daily press clippings
* Maintain database
* Target opinion-maker groups for national screening programs
* Liaison with media and monitor press screenings
* Produce artwork for screening invitations
* Covering conference calls with our U.S. counterparts
QUALIFICATIONS:
* Post secondary education preferred
* Minimum one year experience in the area of publicity and promotions,
preferably in the film industry
* Excellent communications and interpersonal skills, and strong
organizational abilities
* Creative with strong problem solving skills
* Ability to conceptualize, plan and anticipate problems
* Understanding of the film industry and media
* Strong computer skills, particularly MS Word and Excel, Fox
Pro, Quark Xpress and familiarity with the Internet
